Top 5 Autumn / Fall Trends

I'm a summer girl through and through. I don't do cold. I don't do driving on ice, or walking in snow or any of that jazz. I literally spend the whole of winter counting down the days until spring.
I find Autumn depressing because I'm dreading winter approaching, BUT I have managed to scrape up 5 things about Autumn that I do enjoy :)

1. Carnival

I find the whole concept of carnival totally mad. But FUN mad. The participants get so hyped up about it and dress themselves and their floats up to the nines. It's a good night out with the kids - we usually stand on the high street near the pub so we can keep topping up our wine and we make sure we're wrapped up super well as it's usually freezing and this night always marks the start of winter for us...even though it's in October. Ha!

2. Walks

There's something about walking in Autumn. We have some of our best walks in the woods in this season. The leaves falling everywhere, the slight nip in the air, the hot chocolate beckoning us afterwards, the conkers.. it's a pretty firm fave of ours.

3. The Cake

This is the BEST time of year to indulge in a bit of cake. This Cape Brandy Tart is absolutely delicious and is a South African twist on the English version of Tipsy Tart. Served warm with a big dollop of cream... Yes please! I posted the recipe on my blog HERE

4. Drinks

Hot Chocolate Floats. Whoever posted this recipe is now officially my hero. Hot. Chocolate. Floats. There are no words...

The coffee shops do a fab job of introducing the colder months with their lip-smacking hot drinks and I'm often tempted in as I walk past, just for a little treat. I found this 'Hot Chocolate Float' I could totally make at home HERE, Oh-em-Gee... how GOOD does this look?

5. Fire

Charming fireplace, wallpaper & furnishings make this a delightfully cozy, comfortable room. I love the dark pink (almost red) floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and the way they coordinate so well with the wallpaper.

There's NOTHING quite like cosying up by the fire watching soppy films or chatting with your family and friends. It screams love and awesomeness and it's one of my favourite things to do as the nights start closing in.

Now I've written all of that I'm quite excited about this season to be honest. It really doesn't seem that bad <<<<<< please remind me of these words when I'm moaning my head off in January about the cold. Thanks.

What are your favourite things to do in Autumn/Fall?
