It's Confession Time

We're nearing the end of the school holidays. I'm not going to lie, I'm counting down the MINUTES until school starts. Seriously, I have crafted, baked, swam, played games, flown kites and Man oh Man I have 'LOOKED' at endless gymnastics tricks.

I could tell you that I DID NOT lock myself in my bedroom with a bottle of wine last week for a whole hour while the kids cried their 'Sorries' through the door and shuved apology letters underneath it.

But that would be Lying.

I could tell you that I DID NOT put the clock forward by an hour on more than one occasion so they would go to bed earlier.

But that would be Lying.

I could tell you that I HAVE NOT fed them chicken nuggets and chips for dinner at least 3 times a week.

But that would be Lying.

I could tell you that I HAVE NOT on several occasions told them to just 'Sort their sh&t out' because I am NO longer playing referee to their bitch fights.

But that would be Lying.

I could tell you that I HAVE NOT bribed them with lollipops and milkshakes, just for the sake of 5 minutes peace.

But that would be Lying.

I do not lie to you. My lovely blog readers who bring sunshine to my piece of the Interweb, so I WILL tell you that we have had SO much fun too..

We've been to the Olympics and proudly supported our home team! Whoop!

We went on a Shopping Spree, courtesy of TK Maxx - Blog post to follow tomorrow on this - It was FUN!

We took advantage of every sunny day and bbq'ed whether we felt like it or not.

We celebrated and ate Cake for Breakfast. Or Pancakes. Or both. 'Cos we're cool like Jagger.

We found a park we hadn't discovered before, within 30 minutes drive of our house.  This same day, we helped a gentlemen who fell off his bicycle and needed to go to hospital.  He came to our house the next day with Thorntons chocolates and a huge bunch of flowers. We Like these kinda bicyclists :)

We bought a Family and Friends Railcard and USED it whenever we could! Shopping trips are way more fun if a short train ride is involved.  Tay is reading 'Sexy at 60' just for nanna, because she reckons she's the sexiest Granny in the universe. (She totally is by the way, I hope to God I've inherited her genes)

We bought jewellery because it looked good enough to eat...

We rode bikes and swam in the river. This is a great 'tiring out' tactic too :)

What have YOU done this summer? Please tell me you locked yourself in your bedroom too for a little while with your friend Wine?

Hope you've had awesome fun, whatever you've done. I'm a poet and I didn't know it. I'm going now. Before I try and make this poetry and sadder-er than it already is. Ciao Mein! x

  1. Aw that is so fab! Hey six weeks is a long time and whilst there may be calm parents who don't get stressed with their children, I don't think there were many! It sounds to me like you have had a very lovely and very normal summer and it sounds very much like ours x

  2. I've spent the summer trying to get to grips with an extremely pleasant baby who really only likes to feed in the dead of the night; I've spent it aclimatising (or not) to sheer exhaustion; I've spent it falling in love with my 17 week old son.

As tiring as your summer sounds; I look forward to these days. They sound exciting.
